13 Juveniles Set to Contest Competitive Eddie Logan
The $75,000 Eddie Logan Stakes Saturday, December 27 at Santa Anita features a field of 13 two year-olds going a mile on the turf course in an outstanding betting race.
Daddy DT is the 7/2 favorite for trainer John Sadler after a third place finish in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf October 31. The son of Scat Daddy won his only other turf start, taking the Oak Tree Juvenile in September. Jockey Corey Nakatani has ridden the colt in both turf appearances, and is back aboard in the Eddie Logan. The pair will break from post number three and will benefit from a fast early pace.
Stormy Liberal dangerous on front end
Stormy Liberal (5/1) figures to be close to the early pace for trainer Doug O’Neil, after just missing a front-running stakes score last out in a Grade 3 race at Del Mar November 30. Now, the son of Stormy Atlantic will be making his second start at a route distance and could be prepared to improve off that effort. Stormy Liberal has one win in three career starts, and has been working steadily at Santa Anita. His running style gives him the early jump on Daddy DT, and should be tractable enough to avoid a speed duel.
Red Button back on grass
Red Button (6/1) was impressive in his only turf start, running second in the Zuma Beach Stakes at Santa Anita before competing in the Grade 3 Delta Jackpot on dirt. The Mark Glatt trainee earned a speed figure in the Zuma Beach that would make him tough to beat.
