Condo Commando, the 8/5 morning line favorite for trainer Rudy Rodriguez, is the decided class of the field and enters the race having won four of her five career starts for earnings of $568,600. The daughter of Tiz Wonderful won the Grade 1 Spinaway Stakes by a staggering 13 ¼ lengths at Saratoga last August in a seven furlong race and capped her sensational juvenile campaign with an eleven ½ length victory in the Grade 2 Demoiselle at 1 1/8 miles. The speedy filly suffered the lone setback of her career in the Grade 1 Frizette where she finished fourth after failing to get the lead for the first – and only – time in her career. Condo Commando opened her three year-old season with a solid 4 ¾ length win in the Busher Stakes at Aqueduct at 1 1/16 miles.
Wonder Gal to make three year-old debut
Wonder Gal (7/2) finished third in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies in her last start and will be making her seasonal debut following a five month layoff for trainer Leah Gyarmati. Also a daughter of Tiz Wonderful, Wonder Gal may need another race in order to show her best form.
Lightly-raced filly aims high
Sweet Corine (4/1), a well-bred daughter of Pulpit out of a Giant’s Causeway mare, posted an impressive four length win at Gulfstream last out in just her second career start, but will be facing much better in the Gazelle. Her pedigree suggests added distance is a bonus.
