A twelve-time career winner, the seven-year-old gelded son of Black Mambo has been first or second in his last thirteen starts going back to January of 2014. He stepped up to graded stakes competition for the first time last time out and finished second in the Fred W. Hooper Stakes (G3). Edgard Zayas will be in the irons from post position three.
Brothersofthetime going for second career stakes win
Second choice at 7-2 on the morning line is Brothersofthetime for trainer Jorge Navarro. A four-year-old son of Bob and John, he has won three of his seventeen outings and is trying to earn the second stakes victory of his career. He was third last time out in the Sir Shackleton Stakes in his best performance from three starts this year. Eddie Castro will be aboard and they will break from post position six.
Songa stepping up and getting a class test
Also in the field at morning line odds of 10-1 is Songa for trainer Robert Dibona. A five-year-old son of Songandaprayer, he has won five of his fifteen starts and will be trying to earn the first stakes victory of his career. He was third against optional claiming competition last time out at Gulfstream Park and he will be making his third start of the year. Jonathan Gonzalez has the mount from post four.
