My Day is Year (FR) Facing Full Field in $75,000 Wishing Well Stakes
On Sunday at Santa Anita, the featured race is the $75,000 Wishing Well Stakes. Restricted to fillies and mares, the race will be contested at about six and a half furlongs on the downhill turf course and has drawn a full field of twelve with one additional entered as also-eligible.
My Day is a Year (FR) tops the wide open field as the morning line favorite at odds of 4-1 and is one of two contenders in the race for trainer Philip D’Amato. A four-year-old daughter of King’s Best, she has been on the board in six of her eleven starts and is a three-time winner. She will be trying to earn her first domestic black type win and was last seen finishing fourth in the Megahertz Stakes (G3). Brice Blanc will be aboard and they will break from post position five.
Miss Double d'Oro stepping up the ladder
Second choice at morning line odds of 9-2 is Miss Double d’Oro, one of three fillies coming out of the Neil Drysdale barn. A dark bay daughter of Medagla d’Oro, the four-year-old filly has won two of her eight starts and is trying to notch her second stakes victory. She is stepping back up in class after finishing second in an optional claiming race and will have Drayden Van Dyke in the irons from post position eight.
Minks Aprise looking for breakthrough win
Also in the field at morning line odds of 8-1 is Minks Aprise for trainer Jerry Hollendorfer. A four-year-old daughter of Northern Afleet, the bay filly has been on the board in four of her six starts and is a three-time winner. She was last seen winning an optional claiming race at Golden Gate Fields and will be trying to earn her first stakes win. Flavien Prat will be aboard and they will break from post position nine as she goes for two in a row.
