Osaila (IRE) Tops Wide Open Group in $75,000 Tropical Park Oaks
On Saturday at Gulfstream Park, the track will host the $75,000 Tropical Park Oaks. Restricted to three-year-old fillies, the race will be contested at a mile and a sixteenth on the turf and has drawn a full field of twelve with two other fillies entered as also-eligible.
Osaila (IRE) has been tabbed as the morning line favorite in the wide open field at odds of 7-2 for trainer Todd Pletcher. A bay daughter of Danehill Dancer (IRE), she has won five of her twelve starts and was third in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1) last year. As a sophomore, she had two wins in Europe before making her stateside return in the Sands Point Stakes (G2) with a fifth-place finish. Javier Castellano will be aboard from post position three.
Celestine trying to rebound after loss
Second choice at morning line odds of 4-1 is Celestine for trainer Bill Mott. A bay daughter of the recently-deceased stallion Scat Daddy, she has won four of her eight starts and is a multiple stakes winner. After four straight victories, she stepped up to graded stakes company and finished tenth in the Mrs. Revere Stakes (G2) at Churchill Downs. She will try to rebound and will have Jose Lezcano aboard from post position five.
Iromea (IRE) looking for first black type win
Also in the field at morning line odds of 5-1 is Iromea (IRE) for trainer Christophe Clement. A gray daughter of Dansili (GB), she has been on the board in six of her seven starts and has two wins to her credit. The lone blemish on her otherwise consistent record came with a seventh-place finish in the Sands Point Stakes (G2). She wheeled back to win an allowance race and will be trying for her first stakes victory with Joe Bravo aboard from post two.
