The stakes action on Saturday at Gulfstream Park will kick off with the $150,000 Marshuas River Stakes. Scheduled to be run at a mile and a sixteenth on the turf, the Grade 3 event has drawn a field of nine fillies and mares with three others entered for the main track only.
Sandiva (IRE) has been installed as the heavy favorite on the morning line at odds of 9-5 for trainer Todd Pletcher. A five-year-old daughter of Footstepsinthesand (GB), she has been on the board in ten of her seventeen starts and is a six-time winner. She was last seen finishing third in the My Charmer Handicap (G3) at Gulfstream Park West and will be trying to earn her second graded stakes win. Javier Castellano will be aboard and they will break from the rail.
Partisan Politics looking for first graded stakes win
Second choice at morning line odds of 4-1 is Partisan Politics, one of three fillies in the race for trainer Chad Brown. A four-year-old daughter of More Than Ready, she has two wins from nine starts, both of which came against stakes competition. She is trying to move forward after finishing fifth in the Mrs. Revere Stakes (G2) at Churchill Downs last time out and will break from post two under Irad Ortiz, Jr.
Tuttipaesi (IRE) trying for third straight win
Also in the field at morning line odds of 6-1 is Tuttipaesi (IRE) for trainer Bill Mott. A six-year-old daughter of Clodovil (IRE), she has won six of her fifteen starts and is trying to earn her first graded stakes win. She is coming into this race off of a pair of minor stakes wins, one at Suffolk Downs and one at Gulfstream Park. Christopher DeCarlo will be aboard and they will break from post eight.
