Stormy Lucy Headlines Deep Field in $200,000 Buena Vista Stakes
On Saturday at Santa Anita, the featured race is the $200,000 Buena Vista Stakes. Carded at one mile on the turf, the Grade 2 race has drawn a field of twelve fillies and mares with two others entered as also-eligible.
Stormy Lucy tops the competitive field as the morning line favorite at odds of 7-2 for trainer Ed Moger, Jr. A seven-year-old daughter of Stormy Atlantic, the veteran mare is an eight-time winner and a multiple graded stakes winner. After winning the Matriarch Stakes (G1) at Del Mar in November, she has been second in her last two starts, both against graded stakes competition. Kent Desormeaux will be aboard and they will break from post position ten.
Prize Exhibit (GB) back on the turf
Second choice at morning line odds of 4-1 is Prize Exhibit (GB) for trainer James Cassidy. A four-year-old daughter of Showcasing (GB), she has been on the board in ten of her 21 starts and has six career victories. After a win on the turf in the Monrovia Stakes (G2) in January, she switched to the main track for the Santa Monica Stakes (G2) and finished seventh. Santiago Gonzalez will be aboard and they will break from post position six.
Theatre Star trying for first graded stakes win
Also in the field at morning line odds of 6-1 is Theatre Star for trainer Tom Proctor. A six-year-old daughter of War Front, she has been on the board in twelve of her eighteen starts and is a five-time winner. She will be trying to break through and earn the first graded stakes victory of her career and was last seen finishing second in the Megahertz Stakes (G3). Drayden Van Dyke will be aboard and they will break from post twelve.
